SATURDAY, JUNE 13
Chamber music
Cihat Aşkın (violin), Esin Taşkın (cello), Roberto Issoglio (piano)
The three performers, led by violin virtuoso Cihat Aşkın, play a series of pieces by composers who lived (either temporarily or permanently) in Vienna. The first item on their programme is an early work by Schubert – his Violin Sonatina No 1 in D major for violin and piano, Op. Posth. 137 No 1, D 384. They then play a work for cello and piano by Beethoven – his 1796 12 Variations on ‘See the Conqu’ring Hero Comes’, a theme from Handel’s opera Judas Maccabeus. Finally, they play Mozart’s Piano Trio in B flat major, K 502, written in 1786.
