The works of the Portuguese-British artist, Paula Rego, are now exhibited in Turkey for the first time. Curated by Alistair Hicks, the exhibition was planned with the participation of the late artist, before her sudden death in June 2022. Rego’s work bore a strong influence on figurative art, as well as forming a milestone in the representation of women in Western fine art. While Rego often tackled topics such as patriarchy, fascism, colonialism, or abortion, her artistic expression goes well beyond the boundaries of political activism, creating a highly original and multifaceted life work. Titled ‘The Story of Stories’, this exhibition presents a collection of Rego’s work from over six decades dating back to the 1960s.
