Goulandris Museum of Cycladic Art

4 Neophytou Douka str.

The collection of Dolly and Nikos Goulandris was started in 1962, and in the following decades they built up some wonderful examples of Cycladic art from the third millennium BC. These supremely elegant, paired-down grave sculptures, which so influenced artists such as Picasso and Modigliani, look entirely modern and are dramatically exhibited, lit against dark backgrounds. The museum also has a collection of ancient Greek art from 2000 to 395BC, and ancient Cypriot art from 3900BC to the 6th century AD
