MSGSÜ Painting and Sculpture Museum

Meclis-i Mebusan Caddesi, Liman İşletmeleri Sahası, Antrepo No. 5 Tophane, Beyoğlu, Istanbul

Tue–Fri: 10.00–17.00; Sat–Sun: 11.00–18.00

The Mimar Sinan Fine Art University’s latest venture is the new Paintings and Sculpture Museum housed in a former shipping warehouse (antrepo) next door to Istanbul Modern. It is set to open officially in 2016.

The building is being given a slick, modern look with brightly-coloured walls contrasting with classical works by the great Turkish artists of yesteryear such as Osman Hamdi Bey, Şeker Ahmed Pasha and İbrahim Çallı, set to grace the walls. Temporary shows will be staged in the interim. With bated breath, we await to see what treasures the museum will unearth.
