Textiles of every shape, origin, age and hue arrive in Kensington Church Street for one day event, from South-East Asian tribal batiks and embroidered textiles to exquisite Ottoman hand-woven and silk-stitched ceremonial ‘towels’ and Turkish striped sashes and throws. A group of dealers specialising in ethnographic/tribal artefacts and jewellery will also be showing off their stuff, including extraordinary Oceanic sculptures, shell collars and Zulu and Xhosa beadwork.
This new fair revives the textile fair formerly held in Olympia Hotel in Kensington, and it is planned to be biannual event with dates pencilled in for November 19, 2023, and June 9, 2024.
