Galeri NON

Tomtom Mah., Nur-i-Ziya Sokak No. 16, Tophane, Beyoğlu

Tue–Sat: 11.00–18.00

In the backstreets behind the Galatasaray High School. Turn down Yeni Çarşı Caddesi from İstiklâl Caddesi.

Galeri NON was founded by Derya Demir in September 2009 with the ethos of supporting artists who embrace non-disciplinary art practices.

Located in the backstreets behind the Galatasaray High School in Tophane, the gallery frequently hosts brave and dynamic exhibitions and is a regular on the art-fair circuit. NON-Stage is an additional initiative which culminates in the staging of the occasional artist performance or lecture.

The gallery has a growing roster of exciting Turkish and European artists and artist groups. There’s Aslı Çavuşoğlu, who won the 2012 Full Art First Prize, Turkey’s first ever national contemporary art prize; the London-based artist Lawrence Abu Hamdan; the Goldsmiths graduates Karen Mirza and Brad Butler; the Swedish artist Annika Eriksson, who presented a very timely video work at the 13th Istanbul Biennial; the artist duo Goldin+Senneby; and the Swiss artist Uriel Orlow.

An outdoor area with couches allows provides a welcome place to relax after enjoying the exhibition du jour.

The gallery closed in late 2014.
