Although, as its title suggests, you can try either of these dishes at this Beşiktaş eatery, it is the döner (meat cooked on a vertical spit) that is something truly special. Prepare to wait in a queue and if you come on Saturday, prepare to wait for a while.
Run by the Durmuş brothers since 1973, Ahmet and Asim, everyone has their special job that never changes – Asim takes the orders, Cengiz slices the meat from the spit and Ahmet handles the till. The meat is tender and lean, the bread is fresh and the fillings are the perfect crunchy accompaniments (tomato, onion, parsley, pickle and proper spicy pepper). Pair with ayran (drinking yougurt) and your lunch is complete.
