The Bahçeşehir University’s downtown arts centre located on the premises of the University’s Galata campus was opened in September 2013. The non-commercial space was founded as Bahçeşehir University’s contribution to Istanbul’s art scene. The gallery is also part of the Istanbul Berlin Art Bridge, which aims to foster an artistic and cultural exchange programme between the two cities (Berlin also has a Bahçeşehir University campus).

A programme of exhibitions, workshops and related events takes place throughout the year. Currently, around five exhibitions are staged showcasing artists mostly from Istanbul and Berlin. So far, the gallery has exhibited photography by the Istanbul-based American artist Julie Upmeyer; a collection of video works by the Turkish artist Erdal Inci; photography by the Berlin artist Jennifer Oellerich; and paintings by another Berlin artist, Rebecca Raue.
