Cornucopia’s travel guide

Officially, Şişli is the vast spread of districts, staunchly CHP in elections, that encompasses everything from Divan Hotel end of Taksim Square to 4th Levent  Maslak was recently handed over to Sariyer. In between lie Nişantaşı, Teşvikiye, Feriköy, Osmanbey, Mecidiyeköy, Zincirlikuyu, Ulus and 1. Levent. But ask a taxi to take you to Şişli and you will end up in Halaskargazi Caddesi, the street that runs between Harbiye and Mecidiyeköy, an extension of Cumhuriyet Caddesi, the long avenue that leads out of Taksim Square. Not a place tourists head for often, a sort of downmarket Oxford Street where in small shops you can buy excellent affordable practical very good quality clothes.
