Istiklal Caddesi No. 360, Beyoğlu, Istanbul

Once the bakery Lebon – which sent its cakes to Europe aboard the Orient Express and was popular with the city’s literary figures – today Markiz is more famous for its stunning Art Nouveau walls than its food.

Nearby Degustasyon, Tarihi Cumhuriyet Meyhanesi and Seviç were restaurants favoured by the city’s intellectuals in the early to mid-20th century. Lambo was their preferred watering hole.
