Cornucopia’s travel guide

İstiklâl Caddesi’s elbow, marked by the imposing Galatasaray Lycée. The epicentre of Beyoğlu. Leading off the square on one side are the Balık Pazarı, the low-life methane district and its sidekick, the Çiçek Pasajı (which began life as an opera house), on the other Yeni Çarşı Sokağı, which picturesquely drops down to the Bosphorus, and Turnacıbaşı Sokak, which leads past the Galatasaray Hamamı (don't be put off by the grim Sixties exterior) to the antiques district of Çukurcuma and the cool cafés of Cihangir.
