Ara Güler and Martin Parr in Istanbul 2017
Sadly, on December 6th we lost the great British photographer Martin Parr. If anyone's photos spoke for themselves they were his. Martin Parr was known to most for his colour work and his subtle wit though his older black and white work was also very strong. He was one of the most famous photographers of his generation.
Alex Greenberger of Art News wrote, "Though his subjects varied widely, Parr's photography was always characterized by a certain crassness and a fascination with the "low" culture. Depending on how you looked at his work, it was either unironically interested in its subjects or shrewdly critical of them."

Martin Parr's "brilliantly coloured images of vulgarity and the hyper-consumerism of the modern age have made him one of the leading names in his field." Peter Aspden

“The Martin Parr Foundation and Magnum Photos will work together to preserve and share Martin’s legacy,” the foundation said in a statement. “More information on this will follow in due course.”
